Chapter One: Heart's Home
`````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
I was 11 years old the day I, my adoptive sister Rasetsu, and the rest of the pack moved to the bluff outside the town of Resembool.
We were like a set of nomadic natives, traveling from place to palce, looking for the pack's Heart's Home, and chosen by our Lady Artemis.
Because they were wolves
And I didn't know what I was.
Rasetsu always told me I was an orphan; they found me in the rain, wrapped in purple blankets, holding a necklace with the hole crest of our Lady Artemis. I was only an infant then, but they knew I was the chosen child of our Lady Artemis; of our goddess.
So Rasetsu took me in. I still have the necklace, tattered as it is. On the back, Scarlett is engraved in Gaelic Runes, thus is my name.
We showed up early in the morning, three hours past daybreak. When camp was set, I turned to my best friend Salem.
"We should go explore the village over there," I said.
"I don't want to steal from anyone today, and I have to prepare for the ceremony tonight," she replied.
"Right. Tonight's the full moon and you've got that stupid shaman thing to set up for. Whatever, I'll go alone."
Salem rolled her eyes.
'Fine, I'll skip the preperations. Akela's going to be pissed, though."
"Screw our mentors, let's go!"
We ran off into the village.
We stayed behind the bushes for the most part, hiding and watching the two boys over across the road. Eventually, I got brave and walked over to them, Salem in tow.
"Hiya," I called as I caught up with them. The light brown haired boy turned around.
"Oh, hi. Did you just move here? I haven't seen you around before," He greeted.
'Yep," I replied.
"Well then, welcome to Resembool. I'm Alphonse." He put his hand out, and I shook it.
"I'm Edward. Where did you guys move to?" the shorter, blond one asked.
'I'm Scarlett, and this is Salem. We moved to a... cottage just outside of town," I replied.
"Oh, really? I didn't know there was a cottage outside of town. Are you guys sisters or something?" Alphonse asked.
"No, we're cousins," Salem piped up before I could respond.
"Um... yeah..." I muttered, nudging her.
"Hm. We're brothers; we live in the house jsut up the hill. I'm 10 and Al here is nine. How old are you guys?" Edward asked.
"We're both 11." I replied. But that's wierd, I thought you were maybe 8 and a half. You just must be really short."
Edward glared at me, then started chasing me.
"I'M NOT SHORT! DON'T CALL ME LITTLE! OR PIPSQUEAK! OR MIDGET!" he yelled, chasing me in circles.
"I didn't say any of those things!" I cried, laughing as I ran away from him.
"Brother, knock it off!" Al yelled, joining in the chase.
"Oh my god... Ed, you have anger management issues," I said as we lay on the ground, exhausted. Salem was the only one who wasn't tired. She sat on the fence, watching us.
"Crap. Brother, mom's in the doorway. I think it's time for lunch," Al said. "We probably won't be out again, so we'll meet up again tommorrow."
"Aw, ok." I said, getting up. Salem and I walked off. "Bye!"
That night, we held the lunar ceremony, a. initiation ceremony into the tribe. Rasetsu was required to give me some of her wolf blood, since I had none. It would protect me in years to come.
I woke up early in the morning; maybe four hours pat sunrise. I left Salem behind as she slept to go to the village.
The boys were already out, Al sitting on the fence and Ed holding something as he sat in the road.
"Hi, Ed, Al, what are you guys doing?" I asked as I sat down in the dirt next to Ed.
"We made this for you," Ed said, handing me a clay raven. "We used Alchemy."
"Ooh, cool! Ed, you're awesome. Maybe I'll bake you some triforce cookies tonight," I replied.
"...Um, I'm not going to ask what that is..." Ed muttered.
"Scarlett, do you think you could come over for lunch?" Al asked me.
"Sure," I replied. The boys lead me up the hill to their house. Al nudged Ed as we walked up the road.
"Your girlfriend like you," he joked.
'Al, you jerk, she's not my girlfriend!" Ed yelled, and started chasing him up the hill. I ran, following them and laughing. We started to get close to the house.
"What's going on, you two?" A woman said in the doorway. She was tall, and really pretty. She had long brown hair that reached her middle back and was wearing a white apron and a long, pastel green dress.
"Al's picking on me again!" Ed cried as he raced up the stairs.
"I am not!" Al snapped back, joining his brother. I stood behind them.
'You know we can't have that. Try to cal down, you two." She turned to me. "Who's your friend?"
This is Scarlett," Edward introduced.
'can she stay for lunch?" Alphonse asked. Of course. Nice to meet you, Scarlett. I'm the boy's mother. You can call me Trisha, if you'd like."
"Thank you then, Trisha, fro letting me stay," I replied.
"It's no trouble at all. You can all come in, I'll start making lunch."
Trisha turned around and went inside, as did the boys and I.
Ok, so, this was mainly written to describe Scarlett's past. It's not much of a wolf story, but it's has it's moments in the wolfeh sun.
Friendly critisism is appreiciated! ^^
