Waking up from a rare peaceful sleep, Aryus yawned and stretched her tense muscles. Blinking her blue eyes free of dust, she looked around her dark den, the familiar smooth cool walls, the ceiling encrypted with ancient human writings. The weird symbols seemed to tell a story in a language unknown to wolves. The white fae always wondered how the human came up with such intriguing things, many thought that humans where stupid but how many stupid creatures could expand over the earth, take over and kill thousands of our species? None, no these humans where dangerous and had to be avoided at all costs. Then there was Black Valley, they took over SeaFall territory, killing all but for or five lucky to escape. So far they seem pleased by their victory and not much going on with them, but how long would that last? The white alphess thought many times of moving her pack to a new location, but where? Sighing, she closed her eyes, pulling her wings to her sides. Unable to fine a comfort of mind, Aryus got to her paws and waked outside her den, the sky was still dark with night, and the stars where still dotting the night sky but starting to fade as the sun rays mixed with the inky blackness.
She was going on an early patrol, marking the borders, she figured if the alphas scent was all over the place, most intruders would stay away, but she was a female. Males had more testosterone, the more testosterone the larger and more aggressive a wolf was. She figured she would get all the males to go mark the border as well, scare off spies and loners off more.
The wind was fairly strong for early morning, black nose twitching she smelt the distant scent of rain on the strong breeze. The thick tree leaves danced from the rolling winds, the storm brought up the memory of the impending war, her lips curled back as the memory of the red liquid's taste soiled her tongue. The site of her pack fighting to the death with other wolves made her blood run cold and made her adrenaline spike, readying herself for the fight, glancing around for a wolf attack. Realizing it was just a daydream , she flattened her hackles and sat down waiting for someone to wake up and go on a patrol with her.

Allard's ear's twitched as his eyes slowly opened to behold the beginning of a new day. The stars were still out from what he could see out of his den. What had woken him was the missing sound of crickets chirping their summer night song. It was that time again, patrol time. He'd been waking up every morning about this time to go around the territory. Allard figured it would help the pack members' minds become at ease just a bit. Of course his body was getting very fatigued, but he figured it didn't matter. All that did matter was to keep his pack safe and happy.
Slowly, he got onto his paws and stretched. When he was done, he shifted his body for he could get outside. The sky was glorious to behold. Dawn mixing with night, stars still glinting about, and clouds forming abroad. If anything, getting up early was paying off to see such a sight.
A different scent than wilderness filled his nose. Looking around, he noticed Aryus already up and about. She looked as if she was waiting for something. A powerful wind ripped past him, throwing his feathers in disarray, but also cleaning the clinging leaves and dirt from them.
As the breeze dwindled down, he noticed a peculiar act by the alphess. She was reading to attack something. He sniffed the air again and found no enemy. After a moment, she stopped and sat down. Realizing that the she-wolf was probably just on edge, he couldn't help, but chuckle at her behavior.
Ruffling his feathers and getting them back into place, he began to walk towards Aryus. His ears twisted back to show respect for her rank as she came close. "Hail alpha Aryus, what wakes you so early," he asked while cocking his head. His muzzle still showed a smile as he asked and it was too hard to hide it.
The way the alpha was acting though reminded him yet again how on edge the whole pack was. It wasn't fair! Black Valley was still affecting his pack and yet they hadn't even gone over the border yet. Allard Roamer was frustrated to no end. The dark pack had attacked Seafall, the weakest of the three packs, and wiped them out. Now they didn't show their cowardly faces when their possible opponent was bigger and stronger than them. They were cowards in his mind. Even he, who had once been a loner, would have tried with all his might to get what he wanted and save face. At least he'd have fought fair and square, and if defeated would have taken it like a true wolf. But these cowardly Black Valley wolves didn't even have the courage to do so. Hopefully the threat would go away soon and Ruin Forest could go back to living without fear. Maybe even SeaFall could be restored again. That would be the day.
Today though would help fight the battle to that freedom and that was why he was up, but why was Aryus so too? Allard waited for her answer as another gust blew through the camp, signaling rain would come soon.

Aryus closed her eyes as another wind gust blew through the camp site, throwing leaves and dirt at her white body. The leaves danced off her white fur and she shook out her fur and feathers. Her blue eyes stared off into the darkness looking for nothing, she was just spacing out as she waited for someone to appear to join her on a patrol. Yawning she stretched again, trying to get rid of the tension in her body, she knew everyone was on edge and she hated it, she wanted the pack to be peaceful, the pups to explore the territory, and the elders to rest lazily in the sunlight.
She fantasized on her hopes and wants, a smile appeared on her lips as she saw everything in perfect order and peaceful. She flicked her ear and her smile faded as she heard someone approach her, Allard Roamer's voice sounded by her side, looking over at the strong male, Aryus smiled her greeting and answered. "Just thinking I need to get off my lazy tail and go on a patrol she laughed quietly at herself. "What brings you out? You have been doing patrols non-stop, you should rest, Allard. Aryus said to the warrior, worry could be heard in her gentle, but firm voice.
Again a strong gale erupted through the wolves' home, seemly to clean out all the dead leaves, suddenly noticing that the fresh kill pile was starting to get covered in dirt. Suddenly leaping to her paws, Aryus raced over to the kill and began to drag it to an empty den, noticing that the kill wouldn't fit in the den entrance, Aryus began to dig the entrance bigger. After about five minutes the pack's food was safely inside a den out of the wind and rain. After lifting her wing to remove a leaf stuck annoyingly between her shoulder and wing, she rejoined the black and brownish red male, waiting to see if he would persist to go on a patrol or go back to sleep that was well earned. She glanced at Allard out of the corner of her eye and noticed his piercing green eyes. turning her head to the side, slightly, she wondered why she never noticed. Shifting her weight and letting out a soft sigh, she looked away from the male and thought about what today would have to bring.

Allard sat down as Aryus recognized him and began to talk. He was surprised to hear worry in her voice. Another strong wind hit and his fur whipped around wildly. His eyes watched Aryus as the wind blew her fur as well. Shaking his head to rid himself of a trance that the fur was causing him, he prepared to talk.
"Aryus you shouldn't be worried about me. Protecting the pack is what I want to do, even if it means losing a few hours of sleep," he said shrugging his shoulders. From the way her body was positioned, he could tell she was going to do something. Sure enough, she got up and began to put the fresh kill into a den to prepare for the coming storm.
Getting onto his paws, he dragged a chunk of deer into the den Aryus had quickly made. No use letting the alpha do all the work. When they were both done, he noticed her stare and couldn't help shift his weight anxiously until he decided to sit again.
Shifting his gaze up to Aryus', he spoke again. "So you wish to go on patrol...," he lingered and got onto his paws with furrowed wolf brows. Allard moved his head to face to alpha as he took a step forward towards the exit. "Well, let's go before we all begin to worry about how sleep deprivation is hurting my health and how to move your lazy butt." He smiled brightly at Aryus as sun rays went over the top of the tree line, falling upon her fur. Allard had to turn around and begin to walk out, tail flicking like a cats', to stop his eyes from staring.
Idiot! Stop it! It must be the lack of sleep and how early it is playing these mean tricks. Get out of my head tricks!, he thought.

The white fae nodded her thanks as she noticed that the warrior had helped her move the kill into the new den she had dug for the storm, the dull dirt dusted her paws and showed clearly on her white fur, flicking her ear, she stared at the dirt as she noticed all to well as Allard moved uncomfortably under her gaze.
Her pink tongue snaked out of her mouth and over her lips as the silence gnawed at her heart. She was about to open her mouth when the black and reddish male spoke bet her to it. For some reason her heart jumped at his smile, and she pined one ear back in confusion. What was that? blinking her eyes she broke her trance, then followed her warrior out of the camp site, still noticing everything he did. Why am I so sensitive to his movements? she wondered as she followed her brows pulled forward then relaxed as she became alert for danger and signs of loners or Black Valley scums. Her white feathers danced wildly as another gust of wind burst its way through the trees.
"This must be one big storm coming. she thought out loud, her paws stepping lightly on the dead leaves below, she moved away from Allard to sniffed and mark a bush she usually marked on her runs. Continuing, she moved away from the bush, not really paying attention she stretched her wings out enjoying the relief it brought till she noticed it brushed up along the male's side. Her eyes widen slightly in embarrestment, and she pulled her wing back to her side and moved on like nothing happened, but the fluttering of her heart said other wise. I hope he doesn't come close to me, he'll hear my stupid heart! Why is this happening? Is this what worry does to you? she thought frantically and kept walking her tail twitched every so often.

Allard walked out of camp with Aryus. He became alert of the area around them instantly. Nothing, but a few deer were nearby, but he kept vigilant. Another burst of wind came as he turned his gaze to look in Aryus' direction just to see behind her. Instantly his gaze landed on her feathers and he pulled it away as it stopped. His own feathers had blew all the time along with others in the pack so why was it different for Aryus?
Sniffing the ground, he made out trails of wolves and was glad to know that they were his pack instead of something else with teeth. They were rounding a corner when Aryus put her wings up to catch the breeze. It wasn't a bad idea at all. He loved to do the same thing once in a while. All the way from camp he'd been shifting his own. Allard barely noticed the movement because of this, but stopped instantly as one of her wing tips touched him on the side.
Allard flinched, but moved quickly away to mark a tree, cleverly disguising his discomfort. His fur felt hot for some reason. He had not idea why it felt like that. What the heck was going on.
Determined not to be distracted again, he kept on going forward. A bush took his attention suddenly as it began to move. Cocking his head, he slowly creeped forward. A burst of fur slammed into his face and squeked. He yipped in surprise and fell into the bush after tripping on his own feet. Brambles knitted into his fur as he began to pull out of them. His eyes raced to figure out what had hit him and they found a rabbit bounding off. As he cleared the bramble bush, he made sure to look at his wings to see if they were hurt. Luckily nothing bad, just a few scratches throughout his body and wings that were barely bleeding. "Stupid rabbits," he grumbled and he shook his fur.
